[APD] bloody gills

hi all,

there are some baby Semaprochilodus (large flagtail
characins) in the local store.  they look very healthy
but they have these really dark areas under the gills.
 what is it???  for some reason, these particular fish
show this condition in stores but i've never known
what it is.  they don't seem diseased or stressed
though.  thanks.
