I've suggested Cu on a few occassions for algae control so here's some info:

Pithophora is a beautiful bright green alga.
Oscillitoria is the nasty BGA we have been rattling on about.

I suggested this some years ago with RFUG's and other things, they will remove the NH4 as well.
Ponds certainly benefit from these.
I don't think there's neough OM to do that much in our tanks.
