Deb, I have a 54 All-Glass corner tank and its great. 
Like you imagined, lighting is a bit of a challenge
but it can be done with some DIY.  I have a fixture
made from components purchased from AHSupply.  Running
parallel with the front of the tank I have  2 36 watt
bulbs and then 2 13 watt bulbs end to end.  So, like
this:

If I were to do it over, I would add a 55 between the
36's and then butt the 2 13 watt bulbs back to back. 
This would give better coverage of the rear and side
corners and bump the wattage up a little.  Like this:
