It depends on the fixture and the ballast that it contains.
Unlike fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, which are somewhat
flexible about how they are matched, MH bulbs and ballasts
must be matched pretty closely. There are different sizes
and types of MH bulbs and each requires a ballast with
specific operating parameters.
