[APD] adaptations to submersion



The article here:

points out two adaptations by plants to flooding, both of which allow the 
plant to deal with hypoxic or anoxic substrates.  They are; the development 
of aerenchyma and the ability to switch to a fermentive cellular metabolism.

No mention of changes to the cuticle.
