RE: [APD] RE: opinions of algae

Can't find the previous post to this to see specifics, but PO4 in a stable
tank isn't a problem. I am running my high light tank at around 2ppm PO4
with zero problems with algae (just a tiny bit of spot, but that is it).
After having to combat all sorts of algae and trying all sorts of schemes,
the only thing certain is if your tanks are growing well, and you have lots
of them, then algae goes away. This has been true for me with nutrient
rich, poor and somewhat unbalanced (ratio wise) tanks.

Mark,

Unless I've lost track of time (quite likely), you
just got the PO4 down recently. I would give it some
time. In my experience the algae will die. Give it a
couple weeks. The existing algae has to burn off it's
reserves, the cells have to die naturally, but new
cells won't be so fast in coming with the lower PO4
levels.
