Bob,

Not to complicate matters, but would it not be easier, less expensive,
and ultimately more reliable to create sufficient ventilation through
the top and ends of the hood? The kit I got from AH Supply included two
end ventilation inserts, requiring you to drill a 1.5" hole, and that
along with the ventilation strips already existing in my plastic hood
allows my 55 watt compact to run cool and calm.

Just thought I'd through in my $.02 in favor of perhaps a simpler and
more reliable solution.

The other thing you can do is call AH Supply as they are very willing to
help and offer suggestions.

I had considered a fan, and your suggestion makes me want to consider it
some more. Have you or anyone else found such a fan at any of the chain
stores or online?
