[APD] Re: Tap water purifier

A bare bones 10 GPD TFC type RO unit can be purchased for $99 mail order
from Drs. Smith and Foster. Cost-wise an RO unit is probably cheaper in the
long run, but of course more wasteful with water. I believe there is also a
way to recharge the ion exchange materials in the Tap Water Purifer without
buying a replacement set, which would make it even cheape to run. I saw
reference to it under a Google search under "tap water purifier."

I have an under the sink type RO unit with a 3 gallon storage tank. I use it
for evaporative makeup water in my tanks, but I don't like the wastefulness
of it with the reject water. I think the ratio of RO to waste water is 1:4.
