powerful for my small 10 gallon with green water, but I suspect you may
also be able to filter for diatoms with the Aquaclear Quick Filter
powerhead attachment. The cartridges filter to 1 micron and are about $5
for two. The Quick filter attachment is like $8.00 if I remember
correctly. Useful if someone already owns an Aquaclear powerhead.

There you go, even _cheaper_.
BTW, you can cap a 9 3/4" filter cartiage on one end with a pvc plug and
add a power head the same way.
I like the external method when I replace the cartiage for cleaning and not
spilling what I just filtered into the tank, but other than that, it'll do
the same thing and might not be a big issue for most of us.

When re working a tank, getting a bunch of detritus out of there, these can
help or after a big algae cleaning, tank re set, new gravel addition, main
filter cleaning, water polishing, Green water removal etc they can be quite
handy. My use is mainly for the Saltwater tank as I don't enjoy doing water
changes liberally with salt water when I mess up the tank and prune etc.

Tom Barr
