[APD] Re: Corrected list but not complete for Planted tanks

I added my own corrections and a few additions. We certainly ought to have AGA in the list. More corrections and additions are needed. Can't spend all day on it, however; gotta go.

AFAIK=As Far As I Know.
AGA= Aquatic Gardener's Association
APD= Aquatic Plants Digest.

AKA= American Killfish Association. Also known as Also Known As
A-OK= all okay.
B= Boron

Be=beryllium
BGA= blue green algae.

BTW= by the way.
BTDTBTWW= been there, done that, bought the whole wardrobe.
BTDTBTTS "Been There Done That Bought The T shirt -"

C= Carbon
cc= cubic centimeter, which is the same volume as a ml (milliliter)
Ca++= calcium ion. Has a plus 2 charge.
CA=California.
Ca= Calcium.
CaCO3= calcium carbonate.
CaC12=(calcium chloride)
Ca(HCO3)2= calcium bicarbonate.
"CLR"= calcium, lime, rust
CO2= carbon dioxide.
CO(NH2)2 = Urea. Principal nitrogen waste product in mammalian urine. Urea hydrolyses to release ammonia.
Cu= copper
dc= direct current.
DI= deionized.
DIN= a European standards organization or Drug Identification Number or Deutsche Industries Norm (German Industry Standard) The second references medications in North America, the third is similar to the SAE standards??? 1st and 3rd are the same thing.
dKH= degree's carbonated hardness.( German scale)
DOM= Dissolved organic matter
DOC= dissolved organic compounds or carbon?.
Must be compounds. Organic Carbon is redundant. :-)
DIN=Dissolved inorganic N? Could be, but see DIN, above.)
DIY= Do It Yourself
EDTA= Ethylene diamine tetra acetate---a chelating agent for iron (it holds
iron in solution. )
Eh= Canadian equivalent of "y'know?"
FAQ= Frequently Asked Questions
Fe= iron
FeEDTA, FeEDDHA, FeDPTA= various forms of chelated iron.
FYI= for your information
FL= Florida
G= gallon.
g= grams
GFCI= ground fault (current?) interrupter.
GH= General Hardness but better as Ca/Mg Hardness.?
No. General (or even German) Hardness is enough. ;-) Fe and all other
divalent ions contribute to GH. Hardness is based on the compounds
that change dissolved soap to a non soluble deposit--- the ring on
the bathtub.

gph= gallons per hour
H= Hydrogen
H2O= WATER
H2SO4= sulfuric acid
HCL= Hydrochloric acid.
HMS= hydrated magnesium sulfate (MgSO4.7 H2O) =Epsom salt
HTH= Hope this helps.
HVAC= Heating ventilation air conditioning.
IME=In My Esimation
IMHO= In my humble opinion.
IMNSHO= in my not so humble opinion.
IMO= In My Opinion
IS= instant start--- a type of electronic ballast for fluorescent lights. Rather
expensive, IMHO.
K= Potassium
K+= Potassium ion.
KCl= Potassium chloride.
KNO3= Potassium Nitrate
K2SO4= Potassium Sulphate

KH2PO4= Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate. KH=Carbonate Hardness
Krib= thekrib.com
l= liter
LED= light emitting diode.
LFS= LOCAL FISH STORE
LOL= laughing out loud
lph= liters per hour
mA= milliamps
meq= milliequivalents.
ml= milliliter, which is the same volume as a cc (cubic centimeter).
Mn= Manganese.
Mn2= combining form of manganese.
MH= metal halide. Usually referring to a type of light. Mg= Magnesium
N= Nitrogen
N2= Nitrogen gas.
N/P= Nitrogen: phosphorous ratio.
Na= Sodium.
Na+= positive sodium ion.
NaCl= sodium chloride.
NaHCO3= Sodium bicarbonate, bicarbonate of soda = baking soda.
NH2/NH4= NH4Cl= ammonium chloride.

NaH2PO4,H2O= Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, Monohydrate
Na2HPO4= Dibasic Sodium Phosphate
Na2HPO4.H2O= Dibasic Sodium Phosphate Monohydrate
Na3PO4= tribasic sodium phosphate
NO2= Nitrite
NO3= Nitrate
NPK= the three most needed macro fertilizers---Nitrogen, phosphorous,
and potassium - in USA, all packages marked as ferts must specify
the content of the elements, for example, 5-10-5 gives the relative
proportions of N, P, and K.

O= elemental or combining form of oxygen, oxide.
O2 =Oxygen as gas.
OM= Organic matter.
oz= ounce
P= Phosphorous, elemental or combining form.
P2O5= diphosphorus pentoxide.
PC= power compact lighting.
PCF= power compact fluorescent.
pH = 7.0 neutral, higher than 7.0 is acidic, higher than 7.0 is alkaline
	Lower is acidic. If you increase the hydrogen ion concentration ten
	times, then the pH falls by one unit.
PO4= Phosphate
ppm= PARTS PER MILLION
PMDD= Poor Persons Dosing Drops or (or the REAL meaning from way
	back...Poor Man's Dupla Drops). "Poor Man's Dosing Drops" is the
	current usage, AFAIK.
