Scott, I agree, as I did with Wright a few years back on another
list. After awhile, using a razor blade to try and reduce the
etching isn't a lot of fun. 100% removal of etching is 100% assured
with replacement. Grinding and polishing with different grades of
abrasives would be worth the trouble in removing scratches to tanks
(or grinding and polishing your own mirror for a reflector telescope)
but 1/8" glass is cheap enough, even having the glass places cut it
for you, that it is not worth the bother. David's recommend of the
product "Glass Renew" would be worth checking out.

One might be amazed at how cheap plain plate glass is and
how little work is involved in replacing it compared to
scrubbing and polishing, etc.
