I had the same problem. Next, they broke the impeller. In addition, they
reside in the intake/outake tubes.

You will have to totally disassemble the canister and clean it thoroughly.
It took me a few hours to complete the task.

So I went to clean my eheim filter out and while I was washing the pads I
noticed a lot of black/brown things in the sink. I took a closer look and it
seems that a big colony of snails took up residence in my eheim. They arent
in the tank because my botas make a quick meal of them. My concern I guess
is that they're clogging up my filter since they are so big. Anyone have
this happen to them before?
