teabags are undoubtedly more, but your fish wouldn't like it (too much
caffeine):)
The commercially made "blackwater tonics" use peat extract. Oak leaves
(collected
in fall then soaked) are used by some as a water treatment/spawning aid and
look
pretty cool on the floor of the tank. They will darken the water somewhat,
but no
where near what peat does. I used to filter my killie tanks with peat, but
now only
prefilter the changewater.
