Don't chase them. Place the net on the surface and feed them, they'll
practically swim into the net after a little while. I catch all the fish
that come to the surface to eat this way, it's the bottom dwellers that I
have the most trouble with. Once they are at the surface you can slowly
position the net under them, they're too busy looking up to notice it, at
least mine are. I think mine have gotten used to the net, even when I'm
scooping duckweed off the surface I get a couple platties that swim right
into the net. It may take a little patience but it's worth it.
