When som leavews get alga, So who tries to clean their
anubias leaves, who prunes, who just accept the altered
appearance?

I do, I do , I don't. I have removed my anubias a number of times and
bleached the leaves in a 20-1 solution. Works like a charm, have never lost
a plant, kills all the algae that cannot be easily rubbed off and the plant
thrives once put back in the tank.
