RE: [APD] onyx sand and vacuuming

My current plant is to let the MTS do the vacuuming ;^).  I know in my tank I have to practically dismantle it to get to where the mulm builds up.  I have a particularly maintenance-unfriendly tank, though.

I suppose once a tank gets some real age on it, and begins to drop in pH, a thorough cleaning/replanting might be in order.  But for regular maintenance, vacuuming _into_ the substrate would not be on my item list.
