Rotala macandra is a hard plant to grow, and it also does not
ship well or transplant well. If it is doing better in your low
light tank than your high light tank, you might consider a nutrient
deficiency in the high light tank just because nutrients get used up
faster in a high light tank. I suspect that Rotala macandra and to
a lesser extent, the other Rotala species need especially high iron
levels.
Ludwigia acurata is a red plant that is a lot easier to grow.
Alternanthera reineckii comes in several color forms, including an
all red form that is also a lot easier than R. macandra. Ammania
senegalensis is red or red-orange, and not too hard once you get it
started.
