I would not add any fertilisers containing Nitrogen
(Nitrates, Ammonium) to a pond especially a newly set
up
one. Algal blooms occur much more easily in a very
well lit
pond. Maybe if you get to the stage where a pond has a
high
plant density you might be attempted to add them but
not
before. I also find that Phosphates lead to Diatom
(brown
algae) problems.
Iron and trace elments are still good.
The swordtails and Mollies eat algae. The corys don't.
Add a
couple of Rosy barbs, they help too.
Maybe some others can give you different advice but
having
gone through too-many algal problems myself this is
the best
I can offer.
