Diana Walstad.  Ecology of the Planted Aquarium.  Echinodorus Publishing, 
Chapel Hill, NC.  ISBN 0-9673773-0-7.  Great book for the technically 
inclined who want to keep it simple.  The non-technically inclined can get 
some great advice, too.

For the record, I'm pretty sure that Ms. Walstad never recommended the use of 
under gravel filters.  I don't know where she stands on aeration, but I don't 
recall that being in the book anywhere.  Her approach is different from that 
recommended by Kirk Melton's LFS.
