DIY CO2 problem

Cheri,

I have a one gallon DIY yeast co2 generator on a 10G tank. Whenever I
recharged the bottle I used cool water, never warm. With cool water the
yeast takes longer to get started and you won't experience such a sharp
spike. I would try to make sure you change the bottle frequently enough that
the Ph stays in the range of 6.8-7.0 not letting it rise to 7.8. Also, are
your plants pearling well? If you have good growth with adequate pearling
your fish should be remain happy. I never experienced gasping fish in either
of my tanks. I've never tried the jello approach either. Send me a message
off list and I can send you digi picts of my ten gallon set-up using an IV
tube bubble counter.
