Tom Barr wrote about using Onyx on either the Aqua Botanic forum or the forums at The Planted Tank. He found that if you add a bit of ground peat to the bottom of the Onyx that it barely buffered the water at all. It seems that the peat was able to overcome the slight buffering ability of Onyx.
