Fluorite & pH

I just set up a 40 gal. tank with 60 lbs of Fluorite.  My tap water is pH 7.2 and now the tank is 6.2.  I searched the archives and found a post from Dr. Morin stating that Fluorite will not change the pH.  I hope this is correct, but if so, I don't know what is bringing the pH down.  Any ideas?
