Mercury Vapor lights

Hey gang,

I was at Lowes yesterday and there on an endcap was a
175w Mercury Vapor pendant for $22. That includes the
bulb.

Is Mercury Vapor something useable? This fixture could
be easily built into a hood, so it's pretty
attractive. 

I never hear anyone talk about this lighting type, so
I'm guessing it's a shot in the dark, but for $22 it
worth the inquisition.
