He is right. I would not do it. George Booth makes a great argument for
substrate heaters. George would never call it an under gravel heater though.
The logic behind his case is that the substrate heater provides a thermally
driven system to move water through clay. With good water flow and a non
clay substrate burying wire might prove way more problematical than
beneficial.
