Thanks for the information guys. Judging from Daniel's photos, my "sawtooth plant" is probably Proserpinaca palustris (marsh mermaid weed) rather than P. pectinata (mermaid weed). I guess the difference is that the submersed leaf of P. palustris has a "web" of leaf along the center rib, while P. pectinata does not. Roger Miller
