Redtailshark asked if pond substrate would work in an aquarium.  The 
definitive answer is, maybe, depending on what lived in it and what will 
happen when it dies and rots.   

Also, angelfish don't mate for life.  That is a myth.  The male angelfish 
just finds it easier to make eggs with the same female; the chase isn't 
appealing to them, I guess.  It takes too long.

And banana plants tend to die prematurely in aquariums.  You might want to do 
some research with a search engine before you buy one.  The fact that the one 
that attracted you is large is also a negative; generally, young plants adapt 
better.
