Check the archives. I think if you do a search on 'light tube' and 'inverse
square' or similar, you will find some heated debates about this. One side
said that any light above a tank goes into the tank and never escapes. The
other side said, yeah, well then how come I can see into my tank? Is there a
black hole thing going on here? Or something like that. From what I can
gather, the shape of the reflector, the shape of the light source, and the
efficiency of the power factor are the main components. Buy AH Supply CF
kits and those issues are apparently solved to the best we can do at the
moment.
