To follow up, and respond to your responses:
     I do have a needle valve, but I had to open it up pretty far in order to 
get any CO2 through the new diffuser.  It took a lot of pressure to get it 
through.  As far as I knew, that was normal.  Now, the CO2 flows through very 
easily.  Maybe it had to get soaked awhile to work properly.
