Horizontal Cabamba?

hi All!

Got a question..
My cabomba is growing really well and out the top of
the tank.
Some of the older stems were thin on the bottom so I
clipped off the bare part and replanted the top.
On one stem I clipped off the top without thinking AND
this is the stem that is now leaning horizontally and
putting out roots every few nodes.
Can anybody tell me why?
