Colour of Light

In the archives, I found that the light wavelength preferred by the plants
of photosynthesis is near the red colour of the spectrum.

However, the greenhouses, where the plants are enclosed have always gree
coloured roofs.
Can anyone explain this discrepancy?

Further, when I tried using a red coloured tubelight, the growth of aquatic
plants was more below white light than below the red cloured one.

Do the plants prefer greenlight over the red light?
