Cavan, Hydrotriche are descrbed in Cook as being either entomophilous
(insect pollinated) or autogamous (fertilization from pollen from the same
flower or from another flower on the same plant or a clone of the plant).
Apparently some flowers can also fail to open fully and these often self
fertilize.
Sounds like you could use a fine paintbrush to make sure that the pollen
gets where you want to be to get some seeds.
