I'm glad to say that after the water changes I did, the nitrites went back to 0. I'll never rinse the filter components in tap water again! I guess I'm learning by doing a lot of stuff wrong but so far, no real disasters. Maybe you SHOULD write a book about setting up and running a plant tank. It would certainly help consolidate a lot of information.
