IME, Blue/3-Spot/Opaline/whatever color form of
Tricogaster trichopterus are the best hydra
consumers.  Failing that, any Trichogaster species, or
even any other Anabantid is worth a try.  Afterward
you can trade the less than friendly Blue(s) back in
to the LFS.  Freshly imported highly colored forms of
the dwarf Anabantids are high risk of parasites or
other communicable disease these days, so don't dump
fresh purchases into large established tanks casually.
