Light Bulb Life

I have some flourescent bulbs which I bought in Novemeber of last year, but 
didn't install until April of this year. I know the bulbs degrade with use - 
do they degrade with sitting around in a drawer under the tank? They're 
Fritz Spectrum V bulbs, I use them in my Eclipse 2 hood.
