macrandra/magenta mutations

I know the airwaves are getting a bit thick with my
posts....

Anyway, I recently noticed a mutation in morphology of
my macrandra. All of the sudden one of the stems
starts putting out tiny, R. magenta-type leaves. All
of the surrounding stems are fine and healthy, leading
me to believe that nutrients/conditions have nothing
to do with it.

A few months ago, I observed a mutation in magenta,
where a stem suddenly started producing macrandra
leaves.

I understand that magenta is a cultivar of macrandra,
but I just find it interesting that it can morph so
often between the two forms, assuming that this new
thing developing is in fact r. magenta. For what it's
worth...
