You'll never know if you don't try, I guess. I can tell you that with 384 
watts of PC lighting over a densley planted 125 gallon, my glosso grows flat 
as a pancake. A while ago I had 640 watts of VHO lighting over this tank and 
was told by several people, including Karen Randall, that that much light was 
a waste of electricity. I am not a lighting expert, but I think there is a 
certain light level (intensity or amount?) that plants cannot benefit further 
from if they get over this amount.
