Subject: green scum

I am experiencing some green bubbly scum floating on
the top of the water.
It almost looks like soap scum.  What is this from? 
I didn't get it until I
started using Kent Pro-Plant.  Also the wood and
rocks are a MUCH darker
brown now.

Any ideas?
