Sorry I'm not Tom, Chin, but I can help with the baking soda. My
tap water is very soft and has little alkalinity ( 1dH & 1dK ). I add
1/4 'level' teaspoon of baking soda (Arm and Hammer) to 3 gallons
during water changes, and my alk usually stays around 4-4.5 dK.
I've been doing it for years. Co2 injected and the pH stays around
6.7-6.9.
