re: plant food spikes
A couple of years ago when setting up a new tank with Flourite I added
chunks of Jobe's fertilizer spikes 8:9:12. These are for potted plants and
hanging baskets. My concern and interest was to see if any of the nitrate
or phosphate would leach out into the tank water. It didn't. Routine
testing indicated no problems. No algae blooms either. And I had the most
incredible plant growth ever+ACEAIQAh-
So from what I've seen, it's alright and works great.
