Unlike Cannabis sativa (also naturalized in Canada), it is not illegal to possess Elodea canadensis in Canada. It is, however, illegal for anyone to sell this plant in Canada... a fairly ridiculous situation given that it is found growing naturally throughout the country. That is why your LFS has some on display but won't sell it to you. dave.
