Regarding catching fish in planted tanks. I recently caught a few neon
tetras with this method; 
I used 2 nets. I held one at the surface of the water filled with bait (I
used blood worms which my fish love).  When the fish congregated near this
net I used the secondary net to catch the desired fish.  It took some
coordination but worked well.  I think the breeding net idea is much more
elegant.
