I'd try to give you some partial answers, but you'll be much better off with
a referral to a real source of information that will help you figure out
what's going on. Spend an hour or two searching through the archives of
this list at www.actwin.com/fish/aquatic-plants/ . I'd use search terms
like "new tank", "ich", "creature" or "disease".
