The pineapple growers' substrate

I am wondering if anyone on the list has ever used native Hawaiian soil from
Oahu as the bottom layer of a substrate.

This is a red, grainy, claylike soil. I don't think it qualifies as a
laterite since its age is measured in thousands of years, not millions.

All I know about it is that it grows pineapples really well and it
permanently stains white clothing.
