Barley Straw in Aquariums for Algae Control
For those who had speculated a few weeks back about whether or not barley
straw might help control algae in aquariums like it does in ponds, I ran
into a manufacturer at a trade show that is now selling little pouches of
barley straw for that purpose. I believe it was Aquatronics, and they
claimed they had research to prove its effectiveness even without the
sunlight thought to activate straw in ponds. I asked them to send me a
copy of the research, which I suppose will arrive approximately never, but
thought the list would like to know that somebody believes it works.
