Razor blades should not scratch the glass, but they could scratch an acrylic tank. I'm careful when I use a razor blade near the corners of my tanks cuz I'm afraid I will lift the silicone caulk and start a leak (or an unlikely catastrophic failure of the seam). Regards, Bob
