Lotus?

I'm hoping someone here can help me with a positive identification. I have
in my tank a smallish red plant that looks like N. lotus. It is about 3"-4"
tall and maintains 12 leaves. They have a typical lotus shape, being round
to oblong with a V-shape indention going 1/3the way in where the stem joins.
What has me confused is that this thing is so small, slow growing and it
is straight rooted like a crypt. I have been lead to believe, from what I
have seen online and read, that N. lotus is much larger and more bulbous of
root.

PS. Advice to those who like to argue. Marry someone you love dearly but
don't like at all.
