co/2 yeast

Hi:

I have a question about the poor man's co'2 set up.......is there a 
difference in using the refrigerated yeast cubes as opposed to using the 
granuale yeast.  I don't know if my cube yeast isn't fresh even though the 
date is good or what have not had success with it and was thinking about 
changing to the dry yeast.
