Dying Otos and Plecos

In 20 years of fishkeeping I've never had a mystery like this one. In
two separate planted tanks with Amano Amazonia powder soil, Ph of 6.8,
all added water is either rainwater or RoI treated water reconstituted
with essential elements, the plecos and otos added to the tanks last two
to three days and then die. Other fish mostly mollies, platties, etc are
thriving. The tanks have CO2 added using the Tetra System, The
fertilizer used in Mastergrow. All help appreciated. Thank you Al Hill
