Re: Aquatic Plants Digest V4 #35

Hi,

Thanks for all the feedback on my cheap D.I.Y lighting. A few responses are in order. First, I don't use a cover between the lights and water. If you set the fixture right on a cover glass a few vent holes might be a good idea.

Also, I've tested all the screw in cf fixtures, Sylvania, GE, Phillips, Etc. The only one suffering from moisture burn out (except for those I dropped in) were the lights of america bulbs with all the little holes around the base. In almost a
year, none of the others have burned out.

Thanks,

Ray

Subject: Re: lighting for the rest of us... D-I-Y

Hi,

I just finished building a new light strip/hood for my 25 gal high. The project with
pics is up on a new page. Total cost for 40 watts of cf with bulbs was under $25 US.
Simple and easy for dexterity challenged people like me.

Comments welcome.
